I have a home!!!
Hi Everyone,
I have finally found an apartment and signed the contract. Yeah!!! It took a lot longer than I had hoped but what would an adventure be without some adversity no? Burned through some cash staying in guest houses and hotels though... Oh well... even at 10 to 15 dollars a night, it adds up quick!
So, here's my contact info:
No. 19B, Building 2, Apt. 6B
Bouk Ya Nyun Street, Dagon Township, Yangon
phone: 249-381
But, I would not suggest mailing anything to me. Don't know how reliable the postal system is here. Also, calling might be expensive so email is still the way to go.
I moved in this morning and will share the apartment with the landlord and his family until they move out. I am paying for the place as of today so they are getting a deal but it is better than paying for an hotel room until they can move out. They seem like a very nice family - husband, wife, and wife's mother - and have taken very good care of their apartment. It is not cheap but it comes with all the furniture I would need and then some and they are even providing plates, forks, spoons and a couple of pots. So, I decided not to haggle on the price in the hopes of establishing a good relationship with them. Indeed, my fellowship can cover the cost so all should work out fine.
Hope you are all well!
